Presentation
The Cuatrecasas Foundation was set up in 1991 to develop activities related with law, economics and business in Spain, and countries in the European Union and Latin America.
The Foundation is particularly concerned with promoting knowledge of company law in the countries in our cultural sphere. Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira puts the experience of its lawyers and any contributions it receives at the service of the community.
The Foundation’s purpose is to promote, finance, subsidize, implement or disseminate activities, centers and entities (1) of a social nature, i.e., for education and social reintegration; (2) of a scientific and cultural nature; and (3) related with law, economics and business. These activities can be carried out in conjunction with people, the media or entities.
Activities
Notable among the activities the FOUNDATION carries out are the following:
University internship program
One of the Foundation’s objectives is to forge closer collaborative ties with universities and university departments by signing educational collaboration agreements with various university entities such as Universitat Pompeu Fabra; Institut d’Educació Continua of UPF, ESADE, and ISDE; Universitat Internacional de Catalunya; Universitat de Girona; Instituto de Empresa; Universidad San Pablo-CEU; ICADE; Universidad Autónoma de Madrid; Universidad Pública de Navarra; Estudio General de Navarra; Universidad de Alicante; Universidad de Sevilla; Universidad de Deusto; and Universidad del País Vasco.
Under the educational collaboration agreements signed with the various university institutions, the Foundation covers both the internship expenses of law students supplementing their university education in the firm’s various departments, and those of students on other courses who provide support services to internal organization departments such as information technology, human resources, administration and secretariat.
Programa pro abogacía internacional (Pro-international legal program)
The Foundation finances a program specifically designed to enable young graduates who want to complement their legal training in an international legal environment by taking a masters degree abroad or completing an internship with firms in other countries.
Social and cultural support
The Foundation also contributes financially to the following sociocultural entities and institutions: Fundación Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao, Orfeó Català, Palau de la Música Catalana, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and the United Nations Global Compact platform.
