Carlos Gortázar

Mr. Gortázar has extensive experience in advising Spanish and international companies on all types of contracts and complex real estate transactions (including shopping and leisure centers), works execution contracts, and real estate guarantees. He has advised Spanish and international real estate companies and groups, and has ample experience in real estate and construction litigation.

He has extensive experience in advising Spanish and international large estates and family businesses on estate planning and complex inheritance cases, (e.g., family-equity-sharing agreements, gifts, and wills), as well as in succession litigation (e.g., rights of legitimate heirs and judicial inheritance distribution).

Mr. Gortázar lectures in the Master in Real Estate Management at the Spanish Association of Construction Developers, and lectures regularly at academic and business forums (e.g., Idec, IEF, summer courses at the Universitat Popeu Fabra and the Universidad Pontifícia de Valencia, and chambers of commerce).

He has published several articles on family business matters, and is the co-author of the books El Protocolo Familiar: la experiencia de una década (Family Protocol: A Decade of Experience), Deusto, 2007; and El Buen Gobierno de las Empresas Familiares (Good Governance in Family Businesses), Thomson Aranzadi, 2005.

In 1996, SEPIN, a journal specializing in law and real estate, awarded him the top legal award.
