A judge (who came top of his class at the Judicial School) on leave of absence with experience in all courts, David Velázquez was the most voted judge from Catalonia in the last elections to the Governing Body of the High Court of Justice, where he worked for seven years.
He has extensive international experience, having worked on international judicial matters and, as a lawyer, he has supervised many leading cases in economic criminal law involving important multinational clients.
In addition to being an associate lecturer of criminal law at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Mr. Velázquez is a collaborating lecturer of procedural law and a member of the academic team at the Instituto de Probática of the Universidad Ramon Llull-ESADE in Barcelona.
He has, as a judge, formed part of the Group of International Experts of the General Council of the Spanish Judiciary and of the relations committees of the Governing Body of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia. An expert on economic criminal law and the author of several publications, he also lectures on “criminal litigation” and “evidence” in the Master in Legal Practice at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra.
