Mr. Hortalá advises several international business groups present in Asia, Latin America, North Africa, and the United States, as well as multinational groups present in Spain. Given his expertise in international taxation and transfer pricing, he helps clients to obtain reduced tax rates.
Mr. Hortalá has extensive experience in tax law. He began his career as a lecturer at the Universitat de Barcelona, and later joined the Spanish administration as state finance inspector, holding several positions during his nine-year collaboration: coordinator of the double-taxation treaties area (Directorate General for Taxes); from 1994 to 1997, he was the delegate of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance in Working Party 6 of the Committee on Fiscal Affairs-the working group for transfer prices of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); chief inspector of the Barcelona tax authorities; and national European Commission expert.
Before joining Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira, he worked for Landwell-PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he directed the New York Spanish desk.
Mr. Hortalà has published several books on taxation, in addition to over 60 articles in Spanish and foreign journals on international taxation, e-commerce, transfer pricing, and financial assets.
He has spoken at more than 80 conferences in Europe and America, and lectures at the Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (Higher School for Business Studies and Management).
