Mr. Hitchings is a practising English and Spanish lawyer. His specialist areas are private enforcement of competition law and telecommunications law.
He advises on national and international cases. He has experience in this area litigating in different fora, including the Spanish, English and US courts. He was lead counsel in the first favourable award of damages for breach of competition law in Spain (Conduit, November 11, 2005).
Mr. Hitchings is also the firm’s leading regulatory specialist in the telecommunications sector and has a wealth of experience in this area (beginning in 1995 when he participated in the European Commission’s full liberalization package).
Before joining Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira in 2001, Mr. Hitchings worked at the Madrid office of the American law firm Squire Sanders, in the competition law unit of the British firm Norton Rose (1994-1997), and with the European Commission (1995, secondment from Norton Rose).
He is a solicitor before the Supreme Court of England and Wales (1995) and a member of the Madrid Bar Association (1999).
He has been adviser to national and international regulators on regulatory and competition policy in telecommunications and regularly advises private businesses on competition and regulatory matters in the sector. He is also an officer of the Communications Law Committee of the International Bar Association.

Mr. Hitchings is recommended by several legal directories, including Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, PLC Which Lawyer, Expert Guides, Who´s Who Legal and Legal 500 in Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT).
In 2007, Iberian Lawyer granted him the "40 under 40" award , which it grants to the top 40 lawyers under 40 years of age on the Iberian Peninsula.
