Mr. Claros has extensive experience in international litigation and arbitration.

He acts as lead lawyer in international arbitrations, both institutional and ad hoc.

He is an arbitrator at the Court of International Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Court of Arbitration of Madrid (Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid ), as well as in ad hoc arbitrations.

In other cases, he has represented a concession holder in an investment dispute with a Caribbean government, a South American government in Spanish court proceedings in support of arbitration by the International Center for Dispute Arbitration (ICDR), and bondholder claimants.

He has advised a Central American government on a matter before an ICDR tribunal regarding a claim by a Spanish investor.

He has represented a Latin American national bank against another Latin American state agency to obtain the recognition and enforcement of an ICC arbitral award, coordinating actions in eight different jurisdictions.

He has defended a Latin American company in international arbitration over an engineering project, and later before Spanish courts in proceedings to invalidate an ICC award given the lack of impartiality of the chair of the arbitration board.

He has represented a United States company in an international arbitration over the acquisition of a Turkish insurance company.

He has represented companies in the energy and construction sectors in national and international arbitrations, and has handled corporate disputes and disputes over company acquisitions, distribution and unfair competition.

With a degree in economics, he is particularly qualified to perform economic, tax and financial analysis.

Mr. Claros regularly contributes to publications and collective works, both in Spain and abroad (e.g., Spain Arbitration Review, Revista de Derecho Procesal [Journal on Procedural law], Economist & Jurist, Global Manager and Peruvian Library of Arbitration).

He is co-author of Comentarios a la Nueva Ley de Arbitraje (Comments on the New Arbitration Act, Grupo Difusión, 2008), and coordinator of the section on unfair competition in the Revista de Derecho de la Competencia y la Distribución (Competition and Distribution Law Journal).

He has been a member of the drafting committee for recommendations regarding the independence and impartiality of arbitrators of the Spanish Arbitration Club.

He lectures on legal practice at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), Madrid.
