Cuatrecasas, among the first 15 most innovative law firms in Europe

October 6, 2017

The only Spanish firm ranked in the top 15 Most Innovative Law Firms in Europe by Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards

Cuatrecasas has achieved the 14th position in the 50 most innovative law firms in continental Europe ranking that the prestigious Financial Times publishes every year in Innovative Lawyers.

It is the only Spanish law firm among the top 15 on the list, the second in Spanish and Portuguese jurisdiction and the third on the continental market. The categories that have gained the firm recognition are Enabling Business Growth; Managing and Developing Talent; Strategy and Changing Behavior; and Supporting Start-ups.

Cuatrecasas, which celebrates its centenary this year, ends a year of intense activity to transform the business. This included embarking on a strategic plan that focuses on adding value for the clients and the team, and becoming a legal practice benchmark in the Latin American business world.

Additionally, 2017 has been a year full of important transactions, including the takeover bid by Caixabank for Banco Português de Investimento (BPI), which the London-headquartered publication has also highlighted. Cuatrecasas leads the top rankings such as Bloomberg, Mergermarket, and Thomson Reuters for the number of transactions on the Spanish and Portuguese market.

Another project of major significance that was instrumental in obtaining the Financial Times distinction was moving the Barcelona headquarters to 22@, the business and innovation district. The change of offices was a catalyst for the law firm in terms of work culture, work process efficiency and digital transformation.

Its support of the entrepreneurial ecosystem is also well known with the launch of the second Cuatrecasas ACELERA program, its startup accelerator program in the LegalTech field.
