  • The building features unique spaces and work areas equipped with the latest technology to increase efficiency and collaboration between teams

Cuatrecasas, a leading law firm in Spain and Portugal, reaches a major milestone with the relocation of its Barcelona office to 22@, the city’s business and innovation district. The 20,000m2–complex, located at Avenida Diagonal 191, will accommodate the entire Barcelona team, consisting of 650 professionals.

The relocation will take place from December 2-6, coinciding with the Constitution Day bank holiday. On Wednesday, December 7, the new headquarters will be fully operational and the offices we have occupied to date at Paseo de Gracia 111 and Avenida Diagonal 444 will be vacated.

Unique building

Cuatrecasas’ new Barcelona complex, designed by architectural studio GCA, will undoubtedly become an icon of the city’s skyline. It consists of two glass 10- and 17-storey towers that reach a height of 72 meters and are joined by a central atrium.

The property includes a wide variety of spaces equipped with the latest technology to promote a more collaborative work environment that is more closely connected to clients. It features 20+ meeting rooms (for meetings of all kinds) and an auditorium with capacity for 200+ people. It also has a restaurant, cafeteria, fitness center, wellness area and car park.

The new building was constructed in accordance with the highest sustainability standards and is Leed Gold certified. This commitment to environmental responsibility will be further reinforced by a reduction in energy consumption and a paperless policy that involves moving towards the digitization of processes to reduce paper consumption as much as possible.

Commitment to the future

The move to the new headquarters coincides with the recent approval of the 2020 Strategic Plan, which commits to a transformation focused on providing value services to clients and employees, and with the upcoming celebration of the firm’s centenary in 2017.

Miguel Trías, director of the Barcelona office, called the milestone “historic.” “We are confident that the new building will be a boost to the firm and to Barcelona. We have opted for open and transparent spaces, equipped with cutting-edge technology to help us work in a more integrated way, which will undoubtedly be reflected in the services we offer clients and in our own professionals. Moreover, we believe in the potential of our new environment. 22@ is going from strength to strength and is rapidly becoming Barcelona’s new business district.”

As Rafael Fontana, the firm’s senior partner, points out, “On the cusp of the firm’s centenary, we want this change to set a new course in business advocacy and we want to do it, once again, with those who have been with us on this journey: our clients and our team.”
