Grupo Villar Mir sold Torre Espacio, one of the emblematic cuatro torres (four towers) in Madrid, to Philippine group, Emperador.  Grupo Villar Mir is one of the major private industrial groups in Spain, present in 40 countries and on five continents. Its business activity includes construction, real estate development and energy. Emperador leads the spirit beverage sector in the Philippines and is one of the most renowned in the world.

The skyscraper, which is 235 meters high and has 57 floors, was the work of the New York architectural firm, Pei, Cobb Freed & Partners. The building currently houses multinational companies including Red Bull and British American Tobacco. However, its main occupants are Grupo Villar Mir subsidiaries including OHL and Ferroatlántica, and the Australian, Canadian, Dutch and UK embassies. These companies and embassies will remain in their offices under a rental agreement.

Cuatrecasas advised Villar Mir on this transaction. Partners from the Corporate and Commercial Practice, Fernando Torrente and Javier Carvajal, and Ricardo Echevarría from the Real Estate and Construction Practice led the transaction together with Silvia Alcoverro, José María Echevarría, Marcos García and Sora Park.
