Cuatrecasas, new legal counsel to Spain-India council foundation

The Spain-India Council Foundation (SICF) and Cuatrecasas have signed a collaboration agreement for the law firm to provide legal advice to the foundation and its members.

The event took place at the Cuatrecasas Madrid headquarters, where senior partner Rafael Fontana and chair of the SICF and executive vice president of ACCIONA Juan Ignacio Entrecanales signed the agreement. Rafael Fontana considers that “this collaboration agreement with the SICF drives the Cuatrecasas international strategy towards the Indian market, offering us great potential, many business opportunities, and marking what will undoubtedly be an exciting path ahead.”

The SICF is part of the Council Foundations Network, an initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation with some countries outside the EU that are considered to be priorities for Spanish foreign policy. Its mission is to foster greater understanding and cooperation between Spanish and Indian civil society. The board of trustees is made up of representatives from the administration and private sectors with an active presence in India and a common desire to deepen bilateral relations, constituting a public-private partnership and an instrument of public diplomacy that acts in all sectors of interest for both countries.

Cuatrecasas joined the foundation’s board of trustees in 2017. Ignacio Buil, coordinating partner of the firm’s India Group, states "the signing of this agreement consolidates Cuatrecasas as a leading law firm to advise Spanish investors who choose the Indian market, and Indian investors in Spain." The India Group is made up by a team of the firm’s lawyers in Spain, Portugal, London and New York.
