Soft skills and their growing importance in the business world were the main subject of the fourth year of Women in Business, a forum organized by Cuatrecasas.

Jorge Badía, managing partner at Cuatrecasas, welcomed the participants, mostly women, and cited recent studies on the matter that indicate that "52% of current jobs require particular abilities and social skills, which by 2020 are expected to be the most sought-after by companies."

In her presentation, the Microsoft EMEA vice president María Garaña pointed out that "even in the technological world, where technical skills are essential, the difference between doing a good or bad job lies increasingly in the so-called soft skills.”

Mariana Norton, partner at Cuatrecasas, moderated the debate that followed with the participation of senior management from important companies, including Carmen García, managing director of Cognitive Solutions, IBM Spain; Beatriz González, founder and managing partner of Seaya Ventures; Nuno Moreira, country manager de Galp Spain; and Meinrad Spenger, CEO of MásMóvil. The main conclusions of the debate focus on the importance of fitting into corporate culture, knowing how to communicate, establishing long-lasting relationships, and having a clear client focus. In the words of Mariana Norton, "these skills differentiate people and have a positive impact on business."

To close the event, Diana Rivera, partner at Cuatrecasas, underlined "the importance of values that are not included in the curriculum, especially in leadership positions."
