Together with Iñigo Quintana, both will continue to strengthen the presence and practice of the firm in the region

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira has updated its international Arbitration Practice in Latin America with its partner Pedro Claros assuming its leadership. He will be accompanied by Iñigo Quintana, focusing on the Brazilian market. Both lawyers have vast experience in international arbitration in this continent, and are recognized by the Chambers and Partners guide specializing in Latin America. They will focus on international arbitration, having a permanent presence in the region, thus complementing the specialized corporate, M&A and project finance services that the firm offers in Iberia and Latin America.

Pedro Claros and Iñigo Quintana have headed important arbitrations in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Chile, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. They both participated in the arbitration between Codacsa (a consortium consisting of Spanish, American and Dominican investors) and the Dominican Republic for the concession of the country’s main highway, worth 500 million dollars. They also represented Abengoa in arbitration for the losses caused when acquiring a holding of Brazilian companies, worth 171 million dollars.

“The aim is to promote a key practice for our growth, allocating more manpower and guaranteeing that our partners have a more continuous and frequent presence in the region,” explained Álvaro Mendiola, partner responsible for the Litigation Practice at Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira. This change coincides with the departure of Cristian Conejero, returning to his native Chile.
