The second edition of Cuatrecasas Acelera came to an end with the holding of Investor - Demo Day at the firm’s auditorium in calle Almagro, Madrid, where the participating startups presented their projects to investors and business angels.  Cuatrecasas Acelera is a program by Cuatrecasas and Telefónica Open Future_ , backed by StepOne, aimed at promoting startup talent and developing business projects that meet the challenges and trends of current society. In addition to startups from the legaltech sector, this year’s edition included technology-based projects offering innovative solutions with a high legal complexity for the fintech and ecommerce sectors.

Demo Day brought together approximately 100 attendees, including investors, actors from the startup ecosystem and members of the panel that learned about the projects first hand. The startups pitched their projects at Demo Day and in the subsequent DemoLab where they also had the opportunity to demonstrate their projects. During Demo Day, there was also a round table to discuss alternative financing methods for startups, involving Lupina Iturriaga, founder and CEO of Fintonic; Fernando Escudero, CFO of StepOne; and our partner Jorge Canta.

The startup Validated ID, a platform offering a comprehensive digital signature service with the capacity to adapt to different kinds of signers, the technological capacity of the parties and any legal requirements, is the winner of the second edition of Cuatrecasas Acelera. The IOMED project, which uses big data to analyze and organize clinical and health data and offers hospitals and medical centers more efficient management of their data, received the panel’s special mention for its good use of the program.

The panel is made up of the director of institutional relations at Enisa, Alberto Moratiel; investment director at Inveready Technology Investment Group, Carlos Florida; managing director of StepOne Ventures, Clara Gutiérrez; partner at Cuatrecasas (Corporate and Commercial Practice), Diana Rivera; the founder and director of the Vitamina K fund, Iñaki Arrola; and the global director of business development and alliances at Telefónica Open Future_, Valentín Fernández.

Cuatrecasas Senior Partner, Rafael Fontana, highlighted that these kinds of initiatives promote the innovation and development of new business initiatives, announcing that, given the success of the two first editions, there will be a third Cuatrecasas Acelera with a new format to continue offering practical and dynamic support to startups.
