Cajas law stimulates foreign investment appetite

September 15, 2010

The Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira London office organized a seminar yesterday on new opportunities for international investors in the reformed Spanish financial system. Royal Decree 11/2010 of July 9 will increase opportunities for private investors in Spanish saving banks (Cajas de Ahorro) through cuotas participativas, which will make it possible to control a 50% stake in any caja. Banking and finance partners Fernando Mínguez and Fernando Navarro led the seminar. Íñigo Rubio, head of the Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira London office, described the “increasing interest” of investment banks and financial consultants in the cajas’ reform.
