Thomson Reuters places the Iberian law firm top of its tables for the value of M&A transactions announced in Spain in 2012

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira takes first place in the ranking of annual results published by Thomson Reuters, with the value of transactions announced in 2012 reaching approximately $53 billion (€39 billion). The advisory service the firm provided for the transactions derived from the transfer of assets from banks to the Company Managing the Assets derived from the Banking Restructuring (“SAREB”) has catapulted it to the leading position of the tables published by the US firm.

The transfer of real estate assets to SAREB made up a large part of the highest value transactions in the Spanish market. 2012 was also a successful year for high-level transactions, mainly in the financial sector, such as the acquisition of Bankia and other entities by the Fund for Orderly Bank Restructuring (“FROB”). Other noteworthy transactions were the capital increase of Enersis by Endesa, the acquisition of 60% of OHL Brasil by Abertis and Brookfield, and the merger between Caja 3, Ibercaja and Liberbank (see the table below).

With these results, Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira once again confirms its leadership in mergers and acquisitions.
