Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira is named "Best M&A Iberian Law Firm of the Year 2009" by Financial Times and Mergermarket

London, December 10, 2009. Yesterday, Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira’s M&A team was named "Best M&A Iberian Law Firm of the Year," for the second year running, by Financial Times and Mergermarket. Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira was shortlisted with Freshfields, Garrigues, Linklaters and Uria, and recognized for "using innovative deal structures and creative approaches to be successful in M&A," in the midst of gloomy economic conditions. The panel of judges included heads of newsrooms of Financial Times and Mergermarket, editor of The Banker, and managing partners of worldwide investment banks. The fact that Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira has received this award for two years running proves its consolidation as M&A leader. It has been heading the M&A league tables by number of deals since 2007, and ranks in first of second place in these rankings by value. Diogo Melo Perestrelo, a corporate partner at the Lisbon office; Victor Xercavins, head of the corporate practice at the Barcelona office; Enric Picanyol, co-director of the London office; and Leo López, associate; attended the award ceremony at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London. Fernando Torrente and Victor Xercavins, co-directors of the corporate practice, highlighted the dedication of all the lawyers in this practice area, which has enabled the firm to participate in the most important Iberian transactions, achieve the best awards, and obtain excellent results in rankings and league tables.
