January 22, 2010

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira held this seminar to channel the interest of potential investors in Latin America, with Spain acting as a hub for such investment. Enric Picanyol, co-managing partner of the London office, chaired the seminar, while Sonia Velasco, partner and expert on international taxation, and Cristian Conejero, of counsel and expert on international arbitration, participated in it.

The speakers discussed matters such as Spain’s bilateral free trade agreements with many Latin American countries, and the advantages that a Spanish holding company offers companies entering the Latin America market. They also spoke about current political affairs in Latin America, such as the plan by Rafael Correa, Ecuador’s president, to terminate Ecuador’s bilateral agreements with Holland, the UK, other European countries, and the USA, and to maintain its agreements with Spain.
