Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira gives fresh impetus to its New York office, and appoints Elena Cuatrecasas as its managing partner there. The partner will move from the Barcelona office to take over from Miguel Ángel Melero, who held the position in New York between 2010 and 2014 and is now returning to the Madrid office.

Elena Cuatrecasas will promote the firm’s international expansion from a strategic position. She stated: “Combined commercial and tax experience, together with in-depth knowledge of the Iberian market, is fundamental when offering the legal service required by Spanish investments in the US and US investments in Spain and Portugal.”

The new managing partner strengthens the firm’s US team, which tax partner Íñigo Aguirrezabala joined a year ago. Together they will represent the firm from a key position, developing the commercial practice and acting as a bridge between the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America and Asia.
