Global competition around the world: Spain

The possibility of settlement agreements, whereby a party acknowledges its participation in an infringement of the competition rules and receives a reduction of the fine in exchange, has long been of interest to competition authorities in Spain. In particular, the Spanish competition authority, the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), has repeatedly expressed its interest in introducing this procedure into Spanish law.
