Álvaro Klauer specializes in energy regulation, particularly for the electricity and infrastructure markets, renewable energy and project development, including handling tariff and operational issues with the electricity system regulator and coordinator.

He handles M&A and financing transactions, and public and private bidding processes, and advises clients on drafting, negotiating and managing all relevant contracts and agreements for those transactions.

Before joining Cuatrecasas, he was a senior associate at a major Peruvian firm.

He is a member of the Lima Bar Association.

He is a lecturer of energy law (previously adjunct lecturer) at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has also been adjunct lecturer on the Economic Administrative Law and Business Law course at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas UPC.

He is the author and co-author of several articles and opinions published in law and electricity-sector journals.
