António Vitorino

Partner of Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira since December 2005. 

From 1980 to 2006, he was a member of the Portuguese Parliament. 

State Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs (1983-1985).

State Secretary of the Government of Macau (1986-1987).

Judge of the Portuguese Constitutional Court (1989-1994).

Member of the European Parliament (1994-1995).

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense (1995-1997).

European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs (1999-2004).

Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1982.

He has been an associate lecturer at the University of Lisbon since 1982, and a guest lecurer at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa since 2008. 

From 1998 to 1999, he was vice president of Portugal Telecom Internacional and chairman of the board of the general meeting of Banco Santander Portugal.

He has been chairman of the board of the general meeting of Banco Santander Totta since 2005. 

He is also chairman of the board of the general meetings of Finpro SGPS, SA; Brisa; and Novabase.

He is chairman of the board of directors of Fundagco Arpad-Szenes, Vieira da Silva, and a non-executive director of Siemens Portugal.

Author of several works on Constitutional law, Political Science, Community Law, both in Portugal and abroad.
