Emilio Cuatrecasas

Executive chairman of the Firm.

Mr. Cuatrecasas is a specialist in complex transactions, particularly mergers and acquisitions, alliances and associations, designing and performing stock exchange flotations, financial restructurings and reorganizing business groups.

Legal advisor to various companies, he draws on his knowledge of legal and tax consultancy and extensive business experience to permanently advise them on making strategic decisions. He was a pioneer in specifically advising large family businesses and has developed various legal techniques to improve their management and ensure their success.

He is a member of the board of directors of several companies, including Áreas, Accenture, Cofiber, and Sol Meliá, of the governing board of Institut d'Educació Contínua (Institute for Continuing Education) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and of the academic and social council of Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.

Additionally, he is the vice chairman of the governing board of the Asociación para el Progreso de la Dirección (Association of Progress in Management) (APD), and chairman of APD for the Mediterranean area. A member of the advisory board of the employers association Foment del Treball Nacional, he also sits on the boards of various foundations and charities such as Fundación Consejo España-Estados Unidos (Spain-United States Council Foundation), Fundación CYD (Knowledge and Development Foundation), Fundación SERES (Foundation for Responsible Society and Business), Fundació SENY (Schizophrenia Research Foundation) and Fundación de Estudios Financieros (Foundation for Financial Studies). He is also an honorary member of the Fundación Lo Que De Verdad Importa (What Really Matters Foundation).

He is a member of the Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao bar associations.

In December 2005, Mr. Cuatrecasas was awarded the Cruz de Honor de la Orden de San Raimundo de Peñafort (St. Raimundo de Peñafort Order Cross of Honor).
