SubscribeCuatrecasas has advised Calcem, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of lime, on obtaining financing of up to USD 50 million granted by IDB Invest. The transaction, governed by New York law and backed by local guarantees, is intended for the construction and commissioning of a lime plant in Condorcocha (Junín, Peru).
The project will increase the country's production capacity, with an initial phase of 200,000 tons per year focused on the mining, construction, and energy sectors. The latest generation of vertical ovens will reduce energy consumption and environmental footprint, optimize logistics, and promote employment in the region.
Kiomi Osorio, the lead partner in the transaction, commented: “This financing represents a milestone for responsible industrialization in the country. The structure under New York law, supported by local guarantees, allowed us to align international best practices with the needs of the Peruvian market, accelerating the construction of an energy-efficient plant with lower emissions. We are proud to support Calcem in an initiative that strengthens critical supply chains for mining, construction, and energy, while promoting sustainable development and employment in Junín.”
The advisory team from the Lima office was made up of lawyers Kiomi Osorio, Vasco Mariátegui, and Luis Olazabal (Finance); and Carlos Monteza and Jorge Alvarado (Regulatory Law).
