Felipe Alonso was secretary (1998–2001) and vice dean (2001–2004) of the Law School at the Universidad de Valladolid.

A specialist in tax litigation, from 2009 to 2018, he worked as counsel in the technical office of the Spanish Supreme Court’s judicial review division, where he became coordinator in 2017.

Academic director of the Master in Tax and Legal Consultancy for Businesses by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Valladolid and the Law School of the Universidad de Valladolid (2001–2009).

Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation since 2013.
