On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce hosted a conference to explain the main employment and tax developments for 2020. We organized the conference with the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce and Wolters. The speakers were Sara Bendito, labor law specialist, and Cristian Calvo, tax law specialist. They presented the employment and tax modifications applicable in 2020 and those pending approval during 2020.

Sara Bendito presented the employment-related developments, including the registry and adjustment of working hours or the mandatory gender equality plans. She reviewed (i) the most important developments of 2019 and (ii) court rulings on various matters, including control and adjustment of working hours. Finally, she outlined the measures pending approval during 2020.

Cristian Calvo specified the tax measures announced by the new Government for 2020, which will affect many different taxes: “In addition to the announced tax measures, known as the Google and Tobin taxes, expectedly, there will be (i) major amendments to the personal income tax (IRPF), corporate income tax (IS) and estate, inheritance and property transfer taxes (IP, ISD and ITPAJD), and (ii) minor VAT modifications. With a few exceptions, these measures aim to raise taxes, either by increasing tax rates or limiting tax exemptions and benefits.”
