Sonia Díaz specializes in tax, offering strategic advice for corporate groups and large estates.
She was director general of the Valencia Tax Agency from 2019 to 2025.
She has held important positions in the Valencian Department of Finance and Economic Model, including deputy director of taxes, and head of the tax management service of the regional services of Valencia. She has also directed and coordinated various commissions and councils, including the tax reform study commission for the autonomous region of Valencia and the region's Tax Observatory where she was the promoter and technical director, as well as being second deputy director of the Superior Council for the Management and Coordination of Tax Management representing all autonomous regions.
In 2001, she obtained the top position in the public competitive examinations for the Body of Tax Inspectors of the Valencian regional government. Since then, she has combined her professional career with lecturing and training as a teacher and speaker on courses, and undergraduate and master degrees at different universities and academic centers, including Universidad Católica de Valencia, Universidad Europea de Valencia, Universidad de Valencia and EDEM.
She is co-director of the Master in Account Auditing at Universidad Europea de Valencia.
She is a member of the Valencia Association of Economists.
She a member of the Association of Business and Professional Women of Valencia.
