SubscribeCuatrecasas has advised Jesús Núñez, founder of Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX), and his group of founding partners on the agreement to sell together with CVC Capital Partners a majority stake in UAX to Cinven, an international private equity firm.
The transaction stands out not only for its relevance in the education sector, but also as one of the largest private equity transactions in Spain in 2025. Its strategic approach also fosters significant development opportunities for UAX and its investment partners.
Cuatrecasas has worked extensively to ensure the success of this complex transaction, assisting its clients in reinvesting alongside Cinven. The work is a clear demonstration of the firm's ability to advise on large-scale transactions with a high level of legal sophistication.
The Cuatrecasas advisory team was made up of lawyers Francisco J. Martínez Maroto, Pedro López-Dóriga, and Alejandro Aramburu, from the Corporate Practice.
Regarding the transaction, Francisco J. Martínez Maroto highlighted: “Cinven's entry into Alfonso X el Sabio University within the framework of a competitive process and the reinvestment by Jesús Núñez and the founding group for the second time, demonstrate the confidence of the private equity sector in the growth of UAX and the full commitment of its founders to the present and future of the University and the project."
