Specialist in civil law. He had previously worked as a notary public for 44 years (38 of which in Barcelona).

A senior judge of the High Court of Justice of Andorra from 1987 to 1993, he went on to serve as a senior judge and the first president of the Constitutional Court of Andorra from 1993 to 2001. He was also a member of the Legal Advisory Commission of the Regional Government of Catalonia from 1998 to 2005.

He serves as vice-chair of “La Caixa” Foundation.

A member of the board of trustees of former savings bank Caja de Pensiones para la Vejez y de Ahorros, he has also been a member of the board of directors for Abertis, CaixaBank, Criteria, InmoCriteria Caixa, and Saba.

He lectured on civil law with the Spanish National Distance Education University (UNED) (1977-1982), and at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1982-1990) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (1990-2000).
