Cuatrecasas has advised BBVA México on the debt refinancing of the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, a five-star luxury resort located on the Riviera Nayarit.

The $100 million transaction is key to consolidating the hotel's financial position and highlights BBVA México's role as a key player in project financing in the country's hotel and tourism sectors. The refinancing was backed by the usual guarantees for this type of transaction.

Since 2021, the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort has been owned by Vertex Real Estate Investors and the MRP Group, renowned private equity managers specializing in the Mexican real estate sector. Both companies act as builders, developers, venture capitalists, debt providers and structurers, and provide investment banking advice to some of the leading companies in their field, both globally and nationally. Together, they manage funds with capital commitments of over $2 billion.

The hotel has 120 rooms and suites, a renovated design following its acquisition in 2021, and is recognized as one of the leading luxury resorts on the Mexican Pacific.

The Cuatrecasas team handling the transaction was led by partner León López, with lawyers Paola Igartúa and Joel Villanueva, from the Finance Practice.
