Cuatrecasas has advised the Costa Group and Arqa Group on acquiring 95.75% of the share capital of Spanish football club SD Huesca from the Alcoraz Foundation. The transaction finalizes a process that started in August 2024, when Costa and Arqa granted financing to the Alcoraz Foundation that was fundamental for the club’s recovery, operational continuity, and stabilization. That initial financing has concluded with the takeover of the public limited sports company by both business groups.

Both the Costa Group, an agri-food holding company with a large presence, and the Arqa Group, dedicated to the promotion and growth of national and international technology companies, have participated from the start in the economic and structural reorganization of the club, reviewing the viability plan, and renegotiating financial agreements and strategic payments.

For SD Huesca, this represents a fresh institutional impetus and the arrival of two business groups committed to the sports project, guaranteeing the sustainability and viability of its programs and activities. For Alcoraz, the transaction enables it to resolve its debt situation and continue to carry out its social and sporting activities as normal in the province. In both cases, the purchase does not involve any amendments to the current governance model and structure.

"We supported our clients through every stage of this process, and we sincerely thank them for the trust they placed in our team,” said Antonio García Lapuente, who led the advisory services together with lawyers Carolina Artigot and Ana Giménez from the Corporate Practice.
