SubscribeCuatrecasas has advised Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) on a $100 million financing transaction granted to Peruana de Inversiones en Energías Renovables and other Celsia Group companies, to boost renewable energy project development in Peru.
The transaction consolidates SMBC’s leadership in sustainable financing, by acting as the sole structuring bank, sole lead arranger and bookrunner, administrative agent, and green loan coordinator of a revolving credit facility aligned with Green Loan Principles. The credit facility is backed by a first-priority guarantee package, which gives the transaction a robust risk profile.
Cuatrecasas partner Kiomi Osorio, lead lawyer for SMBC and the Peruvian side, said: “This financing reinforces SMBC’s role as a strategic partner of Celsia and our commitment to Peru’s energy transition. The structure, aligned with Green Loan Principles and backed by a first-priority guarantee package, allows for responsible and efficient progress in building a diversified portfolio of greenfield projects, both under construction and in operation.”
