Cuatrecasas has advised the German TÜV Rheinland Group on acquiring the entire share capital of Burotec, an international company in Spain specializing in comprehensive consultancy, inspection, engineering and security services.

The purchase agreement was closed on September 27 and will enable TÜV Rheinland, the global leader in technical services, to make steady headway with its strategy to strengthen its positioning in service delivery aimed at non-regulatory markets. With this acquisition, it takes over a well-established company, with a track record of over 20 years in the market and a workforce of around 50 employees.

Burotec’s current client portfolio includes major multinationals from the automotive, medical devices, construction, telecommunications, green energy and environmental industries. Its experts participate throughout the value chain of any industrial process in which they collaborate, getting involved from the initial phase of the project to completion. They also focus their work of promoting the use of more sustainable energies.

Regarding this transaction, Kirsten Raapke, executive vice president TÜV Rheinland Europe/country manager TÜV Rheinland Spain, comments: “The acquisition will broaden the scope of our activity, covering current market needs linked to our DNA, such as excellence and sustainability.” Gareth Book, regional manager of TÜV Rheinland's Industrial Services & Cybersecurity business in Western Europe, emphasizes the wide-ranging experience of the Burotec team: "The acquisition adds expertise to our technical competence and personnel background, and consolidates our position as a key partner in the industry."

The Cuatrecasas advisory team was led by Kai Fischer (Corporate and M&A partner/director of the German Desk), together with Javier Alós and Ana Laso (counsel and associate, respectively, of Corporate and M&A/German Desk) and Gregor Erlebach (counsel of Labor and Employment/German Desk).
