Specialist in domestic and international corporate taxation, tax planning, and the structuring of transactions and projects.
Cristina Stiefken has extensive experience in designing efficient tax structures, in the tax structuring of infrastructure and energy transactions and projects, and in applying and interpreting treaties to avoid double taxation. She advises national and international clients from various industries on the tax aspects of their mergers and acquisitions, financing strategies, and the acquisition and disposal of interests in businesses in Colombia, as well as defining their domestic and international tax planning strategy. She also advises on transfer pricing matters and tax-related controversies.
In addition, she advises private clients on wealth management and succession planning strategies.
Before joining Cuatrecasas, she was a partner at one of Colombia’s leading tax firms, and worked at leading law firms in Germany and the United Kingdom.
She is a member of the International Fiscal Association and of the academic board of the Colombian Tax Law Institute.
She currently lectures in undergraduate and postgraduate taxation courses at the Universidad de los Andes and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She is the author of various publications and has been a panelist in many events on tax topics.
