Specialist in taxation; senior judge in Judicial Review Division of Spanish Supreme Court since 2008.

Joaquín Huelin is an expert in EU law with a clear international vision and extensive experience.

In 1983, he started his career as a judge in various courts in Spain. In 1987, he was appointed senior judge, first at the judicial review division of the High Court of Justice of Madrid, and later at the judicial review division of the Central Criminal and Administrative Court.

He has also been chief judge of the Technical Office of the Supreme Court and counsel at the Constitutional Court and at the Court of Justice of the European Union.

He co-directed the Master in Tax Consultancy at the School of Legal Practice, Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2018–2019). He was director of the course “The reform of EU treaties,” held in Murcia in October 2008, in the framework of the Permanent Forum of European Judicial Studies, organized by the General Council of the Spanish Judiciary. He speaks in courses and at conferences on community and EU law, finance and tax law, constitutional law and administrative law, as well as participating in courses and conferences at Universidad de Alcalá, the Escuela Libre de Derecho y Economía, the Centro de Estudios Jurídicos and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

He has written several articles and collaborated in specialized journals.
