Cuatrecasas has consolidated its position in the capital market area by hiring Benedetta Pacífico as a new counsel to that practice area in its Knowledge and Innovation Group. With this appointment, the firm—which is firmly committed to being at the forefront of legal advice—reinforces its team of R&D&I experts to continue to closely monitor the best practices, market trends and regulatory developments coming from Europe, in an area that is constantly changing.

With an extensive professional background, Benedetta Pacífico is a lawyer specializing in debt issuance and sustainable finance who has worked as an expert in capital markets for over 12 years; in the later stage, as counsel to a US multinational firm and, previously, in the London offices of a British and an Italian firm.

As counsel of the US firm and in line with her particular interest in advising on sustainability-related issues, she led a European ESG focus group and advised on multiple sustainable issue transactions. In addition to benefiting her new work group, her comprehensive, cross-disciplined profile will directly contribute to developing knowledge in other areas such as business and human rights, corporate governance, compliance, and M&A.

On joining Cuatrecasas, she comments: “I am very excited to start a new chapter of my career at a leading law firm in Spain that, in addition to breaking barriers, has such a different vision of doing things. In an ever-changing environment in which the legal services sector is continually facing new challenges, the Knowledge and Innovation Group presents itself as a truly innovative concept. I am very happy to face this new challenge.”

She is a member of the Bar in England and Wales, with a Bachelor of Laws with honors and a Master of Laws from University College London. She joins the Knowledge and Innovation Group as a key player in project development, providing technical support for teams from all jurisdictions in preparing standards, coordinating criteria, training, business development initiatives, and monitoring legal developments and market trends.

Idoya Fernández, managing partner of the Knowledge and Innovation Group asserts: “Benedetta brings a different vision to our team. Her training and professional experience in the London market, her in-depth knowledge of international capital markets and particularly of sustainable finance will contribute to developing our knowledge and high value-added technical support in an area that is producing a vast amount of regulations.”
