Álvaro Luna specializes in advising on, drafting and filing extraordinary appeals before the Spanish Supreme Court. He has extensive experience in Spanish and international commercial litigation, focusing on contract law, complex tort law cases, medical malpractice and product liability, consumer protection and insurance.

He is a doctor of laws, a lawyer and an associate professor of civil law (foundations of private and business law, tort law and contract law) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona), lecturing since 1999.

He also lectures on contract law and product liability in the Master in Business Law at the Barcelona Bar Association, and in the Master in International Business Law at Esade Business & Law School. He is the master's thesis supervisor in civil law at Barcelona School of Management. Previously, he lectured on the international contracts module of the Master in International Business Law at the OBS Business School. He frequently speaks on his specialty areas at conferences, courses and seminars.

He was a visiting scholar at Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht (Hamburg, Germany) and at Cornell Law School (Ithaca, New York).

From 1999 to 2005, he was a member of the editorial board of InDret (www.indret.com), a journal focusing on law analysis. He is the author and co-author of several monographs and legal articles and is a member of the Spanish Litigation Club.
