Global Compact Network Spain celebrated the second anniversary of the approval of the Sustainable Development Goals at the Cuatrecasas headquarters in Madrid

Ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring that all people enjoy peace and prosperity; these are the values promoted by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approved on September 25, 2015, by the United Nations General Assembly and adopted by 193 countries.

Global Compact Network Spain held an event at Cuatrecasas to celebrate the second anniversary of the approval of the SDGs, attended by representatives of leading companies including the Antolín Group, Calidad Pascual, Enagás, Mahou San Miguel, Red Eléctrica de España, Repsol, Telefónica, and Vodafone Spain. Also present were institutions such as ICEX-Spain and government representatives including Fernando García Casas, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Juan Francisco Montalbán, Special Ambassador for the 2030 Agenda.

Managing partner of the Madrid office, Fernando Bernard, inaugurated the session in which the SDG 2. Analysis, trends and business leadership in Spain guide was presented. This document analyzes the steps that the companies composing the IBEX 35 stock market index are implementing to become SDG ambassadors, and states that 74% of these companies already include an express commitment to SDGs in their sustainability reports. In 2002, Cuatrecasas adhered to the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, and aims to turn the practice of law into a transformational springboard for our clients, our team and our area of influence.

The event, attended by nearly 200 people, focused on innovation to guarantee implanting the SDGs in the business world and thus ensure their large-scale, worldwide integration. Global Compact Network Spain also presented a new online tool that is based on the scheme proposed by the SDG Compass Guide and that will help institutions interested in integrating SDGs in the short and long term.
