SubscribeCuatrecasas has advised Banco de Bogotá, Banco de Occidente, and Banco Popular on the structuring and expansion of a credit facility granted to the concessionaire Aeropuertos de Oriente for COP 53.3 billion. These funds will be used to finance the expansion works of two major regional airports: Simón Bolívar in Santa Marta and Almirante Padilla in Riohacha.
This credit transaction will strengthen airport infrastructure in northeastern Colombia through a new debt tranche that raised the total project funding to COP 288.3 billion, representing a key injection of funds for these works approved by the National Infrastructure Agency. The works include improvements to buildings, boarding gates, and equipment, which will increase regional terminal capacity by 60%.
“This new agreement is a significant milestone in the development of airport infrastructure in Colombia, with direct benefits for passengers, airlines, tourism, and productive sectors, which will enjoy better connectivity. We thank the banks for placing their trust in our work and for supporting the competitiveness of the country’s northeastern region,” said Natalia Arango, the Cuatrecasas Finance partner who led the advisory team with the assistance of lawyers María Elvira Borrero, Juan Carlos Camacho and Daniela Mateus.
