The Cuatrecasas Foundation has opened applications for the 2027 Cuatrecasas Scholarships and Manuel Olivencia Award for University Excellence. Both initiatives support law students’ academic development. They also reflect the Foundation’s commitment to education as a driver of social progress, diversity, and excellence.
Cuatrecasas Scholarships
The Foundation will award six scholarships of €4,000 each to students enrolled in law degrees or double degrees that include law at Spanish public universities. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic performance. The scholarships will provide financial support, helping recipients continue their studies and strengthen their personal independence. Funds must cover expenses associated with recipients’ academic education.
Manuel Olivencia Award for Academic Excellence
The award provides €50,000 gross and is open to students in their final year at a Spanish public or private university. Eligible programs include a law degree, double degrees that include law, and a master’s degree in law. The initiative recognizes academic excellence and supports candidates with outstanding records and strong, ambitious study plans. The funding may support a master’s or doctoral program, or a business law research project, during the 2027-2028 academic year. Recipients may pursue their studies at a university in Spain or abroad.
Applications for both categories will remain open until January 31, 2027.
Commenting on the new application cycle, Cuatrecasas Foundation chair Emilio Cuatrecasas said: “We want to recognize the dedication and talent of law students. We also want to offer them the resources they need to continue their education under the best conditions. Cuatrecasas Foundation vice chair Rafael Fontana said: “Talent needs opportunities to develop. Through these two initiatives, we want to help students with excellent academic records to continue their education. We also want to help them build their professional futures in the legal field. Supporting the next generation of legal professionals means investing in the profession’s future.”
Since its establishment, the Cuatrecasas Foundation has placed education at the heart of its community engagement. The Foundation believes access to knowledge and high-quality education is essential to creating a fairer, more inclusive society prepared for future challenges.
