SubscribeCuatrecasas advised Sura Investments and Fideicomiso Ampliación Plaza de las Américas on obtaining a COP 220 billion long-term loan, granted by Banco Davivienda, for the ambitious expansion project undertaken by this shopping mall located in southwest Bogotá, Colombia.
This transaction enabled Centro Comercial Plaza de las Américas to complete an expansion that doubled its retail space, increasing from 40,000 m² to over 94,000 m², and raising its total built-up area to over 240,000 m².
“The support of key players in Colombia’s real estate sector for this type of project demonstrates the maturity of Bogotá’s commercial and entertainment sector in attracting investment. The expansion undertaken by Centro Comercial Plaza de las Américas is not only about consolidating its market position, but also about a project that positively impacts its surrounding communities and the city’s urban development,” explained the managing partner of the Cuatrecasas Bogotá office, Manuel Quinche.
After expanding its entertainment, dining, and wellness options, Plaza de las Américas registered 29 million visits in 2025, positioning itself as one of the busiest shopping malls in Bogotá and Colombia, according to the company.
The Cuatrecasas advisory team was led by Manuel Quinche, along with lawyers Emilio Echeverry, Simón Escobar, and Santiago Jaramillo from the Finance Practice.
