Cuatrecasas has advised Iberdrola Cogeneración, a company in the Iberdrola Group, on selling its portfolio of gas assets for slurry treatment in Spain to the energy services provider Edison Next. The transaction comprises five operational natural gas slurry treatment plants in Spain with a total capacity of 52 MW and four biomethane projects under development with a combined capacity of 340 GWh per year.

This transaction aligns with Iberdrola’s strategy to promote asset turnover and partnerships that enable it to focus on businesses with greater growth opportunities, particularly in electricity networks and renewable generation.

Iberdrola is the largest electricity company in Europa and one of the two largest worldwide. It serves over 100 million people globally and employs over 46,000 professionals.

The Cuatrecasas advisory team was made up of lawyers Javier Martí-Fluxá, Marcos García González, Sora Park, and Ricardo Ramírez-Montesinos.
