Cuatrecasas advised Banco de la Microempresa S.A. (Mibanco), subsidiary of Banco de Crédito del Perú, on obtaining two important international financings: one for US$ 50 million granted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the other for US$ 50 million granted by the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest).

With these transactions, Mibanco seeks to strengthen the granting of sub-loans aimed at micro, small and medium enterprises (“MSMEs”) in Peru, thus contributing to economic development and financial inclusion in the country. The transactions reflect Mibanco’s commitment to small entrepreneurs and show the trust placed by international institutions in the solidity and sustainability of their business model.

Kiomi Osorio, partner at Cuatrecasas, said: “We are proud to have accompanied Mibanco during the structuring and closure of these transactions, which will facilitate the channeling of resources toward the most dynamic and resilient sector in Peru’s economy. This type of international financing is essential for promoting the financial inclusion and sustainable growth of MSMEs.”

Both transactions enable Mibanco to reinforce its position as a leader in the financing of MSMEs in Peru and show its capacity to access international financing sources in competitive conditions. The participation of multilateral organizations such as JICA and IDB Invest is proof of the global interest in supporting initiatives that promote inclusive economic development in the region.

The Lima office team providing the advisory service was made up of lawyers Kiomi Osorio, Enzo RodríguezLaia Valdespino and Camila Mendoza.
