Cuatrecasas is strengthening its office in Santiago by bringing lawyer Raúl Fernández on board as a new partner to head its Labor and Employment Practice. His incorporation will spearhead development of this practice at the office and continue to expand the firm’s increasingly comprehensive range of services in Latin America.

Over a 13-year career, Raúl Fernández has accumulated extensive experience working for leading law firms in Chile, advising on all types of matters involving labor law and social security law. In addition, he has an outstanding academic career as a lecturer at several universities and as the author of a broad collection of publications, presentations and research articles.

Fernández holds a Bachelor’s degree in Legal and Social Sciences by the University of Concepción (UdeC), where he received the highest academic distinction. He also holds a Master in Labor Law and Social Security Law, taught jointly by the University of Valencia (Spain) and the University of Talca (Chile), and a Master of Employment and Labor Relations Law by the University of Melbourne (Australia).

On joining Cuatrecasas, the firm’s new partner commented: “I am very happy to be part of this great human and professional team, and to be able to contribute to establishing and developing the Labor and Employment Practice at the Cuatrecasas Santiago office. Cuatrecasas is a prestigious international law firm that has quickly positioned itself in Chile, which makes me feel honored to join this wonderful, challenging project.”

Cristián Conejero, managing partner of the Cuatrecasas office in Santiago, added: "Raúl’s arrival to lead the Labor and Employment Practice at our Cuatrecasas office in Chile marks a very important milestone. Labor relations have become more complex from a legal point of view in recent years. Raúl is a true expert in the field, having studied in Australia and Spain, and a university lecturer of long standing at the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile. He is experienced in corporate labor law and litigation, with a particular focus on collective bargaining processes assisting large mining, energy and infrastructure companies. He is very well known and admired by both clients and his peers, making his contribution indisputable.”
