SubscribeSalvador del Rey passed away on June 15, 2026, aged 70. A partner of the firm for over 26 years (1998–2023) and chair of the Cuatrecasas International Institute for Legal Strategy on Human Resources, he remained linked to the firm as honorary chair of the Institute.
A leader in labor and employment, a magnificent lawyer, and an exceptional academic, Salvador del Rey was one of Spain’s most relevant professors of labor and social security law in recent decades.
He held a PhD in Law with an extraordinary award from Universidad de Sevilla, and a Master of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, New York. He was a member of the Madrid and Barcelona Bar Associations, chair of the International Bar Association (“IBA”) and its advisory committee, and was an officer of the IBA’s Legal Practice Division.
His active, entrepreneurial, and generous attitude, along with his dedication to the profession, were an inspiration to the legal community. His teaching and professional brilliance with his constant willingness to share knowledge, lead the way, and help others, were also inspiring.
