As a result of the general elections and the configuration of the new government, the last quarter of 2023 saw fewer labor-related developments than usual. However, some regulations have been enacted that affect employment regulations, such as the relaxation of breastfeeding leave, or the greater role of regional collective agreements. Without prejudice to the validity of these amendments from the date of entry into force of each one, the Royal Decree-Law by which they were approved has been repealed by Congress.

Also noteworthy are the new developments that have been announced, which will undoubtedly be of great interest to companies: a rise in the minimum wage, an increase in the duration of the suspension for childbirth, or the progressive reduction of the maximum working day to 37.5 hours a week.

Finally, we would like to highlight some of the rulings handed down by the Supreme Court; on reduction of working hours and change of work system; accumulation of breastfeeding leave; or calculation of the deadline for challenging a collective dismissal. For more information, see the Newsletter prepared by the Cuatrecases Knowledge and Innovation Group, which also includes several judgments of interest.
