Companies operating in Spain must integrate into the management of their labor relations the new regulations set out in Royal Decree-Law 5/2023 in terms of work-life balance and work leave. Moreover, the European Parliament has published its Directive on strengthening the application of the principle of equal pay between men and women through pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms, which will affect processes of searching for candidates, recruitment, information and management of potential pay gaps. On the other hand, now that the COVID-19 pandemic is officially over, the exceptional regime on remote work has also expired.

Owing to the calling of general elections in Spain, we expect little legislative activity in the short term, although the Supreme Court has handed down several judgments of interest for companies.
