Sebastián Leyton focuses his practice on matters relating to the energy sector, including contractual matters for project development, acquisitions and international financing for those projects. His role in projects involves negotiating electricity supply, interconnection, construction and operation contracts. He also handles judicial reviews and disciplinary proceedings in the energy sector.
Before joining Cuatrecasas, he was head of the Legal Division of Chile’s Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels, the audit body for the energy sector. He also worked as a foreign associate at the US law firm Milbank LLP in New York and at a leading Chilean law firm.
He has taught classes in postgraduate programs on electricity sanctioning processes and project development at Universidad Finis Terrae.
He has written several articles on energy development and regulation and has participated as a speaker at many national conferences.
