Cuatrecasas advised Chilean multinational Copec on buying Ampere Energy shares in a capital increase, making it the majority shareholder with 65.2% of the Valencian company shares, through its subsidiary Copec Overseas SpA.

In 2018, Copec showed interest in Ampere Energy for the first time, buying 13.5% of the company’s capital, a pioneer in developing second generation energy storage systems for residential, commercial and industrial photovoltaic installations. This innovating company stands out for including, in addition to batteries, technology based on using artificial intelligence to monitor, manage and optimize solar energy consumption and production to guarantee maximum efficiency in the process, as well as systems that make it possible to exchange energy between energy communities.

With this transaction, Copec moves forward in its interest on the Valencian firm, seeking to drive its transformation process towards cleaner energies and focusing on the Latin American market.

The Cuatrecasas team advising Copec was led by Corporate and Commercial partner Juan Grima, with the support of experts Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, Corporate Governance and Compliance; Francisco Ferrandis, Financial and Tax; and Ana Álvarez, Julene Areitio, Guido Adlaoui Spalvieri, Megan Victoria Hackney and Lucía Trigo, Corporate and Commercial.
