SubscribeOn June 17, at its Barcelona office, Cuatrecasas held its annual session on its Doctorate and Practice of Law Program (“PDA”), a program that provides students of masters for admission to the practice of law and lawyers in the first stage of their career (with the highest grades) with a framework to develop their legal careers and receive top-quality academic training.
Juan Aguayo and Alejandro Payà, Cuatrecasas partners and directors of the PDA, led a seminar involving a detailed review of the situation of the young students and lawyers on the program. Guido Adlaoui, Virginia Bazaga, Antonio Belda, Marcos Díaz, Sergi Ferrer, Julio David Moreno, Rodrigo Pérez, Francisco Miguel de Pina and Javier Manuel Tordesillas gave an update on their situation, explaining the details of their research and the progress made in recent months.
Strategic importance of PDA
The PDA is a five-year program structured as follows: (i) in the first year, the lawyers will follow training programs specific to lawyers during their first year, covering their specialty, and will submit the first proposal of a subject for their PhD thesis; (ii) in the second year, they will start the doctorate program on a part-time basis; (iii) in the third year, they will continue to make progress with their thesis; (iv) between year three and year five, once they have reached associate category, they will spend time at a foreign university; and (v) lastly, between year four and year five, they will defend their PhD thesis.
Thanks to the PDA, Cuatrecasas provides its young lawyers with a solid framework in which to reinforce their talent and develop a career that combines professional practice and intellectual challenge.
