Cuatrecasas advises Vestas on acquiring wind and solar projects portfolio in Latin America

Cuatrecasas advised Vestas, a global energy company specializing in the wind industry, on acquiring the wind and solar project portfolio owned by SOWITEC in several Latin American jurisdictions, including Colombia and Mexico. A global transaction, Vestas acquired a 25.1% minority shareholding in SOWITEC, with the option to acquire the entire company in three years.

Headquartered in Germany, SOWITEC is a leading developer of renewable energy projects, with over 60 international wind and solar projects, and a combined capacity of over 2,600 MW.

Partners León López Iglesias, Marco Antonio de la Peña Sánchez and Rodrigo Avendaño, and lawyers Carolina Pérez Rendón, Elías Gallardo Palma, Javier Alós Domench and Javier Eduardo Vázquez Mora participated in advising on the transaction.
